Luciocephalus pulcher
Origin: Borneo, Sumatra
Luciocephalus pulcher (Pikehead) is a highly specialised ambush predator labyrinth fish from Borneo peat swamps. Its pointed head and cryptic colouration allow it to resemble a dead leaf. A fascinating species for blackwater biotope keepers.
pH 4.0–6.0, temp 22–26°C, very soft blackwater. Feed live or freshly killed small fish — often refuses other foods. Strict blackwater conditions required. Expert specialist species.
