Macropodus opercularis, the Paradise Fish, is one of the very first tropical fish ever kept in Europe — a colourful, hardy labyrinth fish with vivid red-blue striping and flowing fins. Tolerates cold water — can be kept in unheated tanks in Belgian homes. Males are aggressive.
Temperature 15–28°C. Single male. Planted tank 60 L+. Feed flakes, pellets, frozen foods. Aggressive toward other male Paradise Fish and fin-nippers. Very hardy — tolerates cooler temperatures.
