Bedotia madagascariensis

Bedotia madagascariensis is native to the rivers of central and eastern Madagascar. It displays bold horizontal striping and vivid fin colouration that varies between populations. Like all Madagascan rainbowfish, it is threatened in the wild by habitat degradation and introduced species, giving the aquarium hobby an important role in its ongoing survival.
Water: 18–24°C, pH 6.5–7.5, soft to moderately hard, clean water. Tank: 100 L+, well-planted with open swimming space; regular water changes. Feeding: Omnivore; varied diet of flakes, pellets, and frozen/live foods. Behaviour: Active, peaceful schooling fish; prefers slightly cooler, well-oxygenated water. Compatibility: Good community fish with other peaceful, similarly sized species.
