About

Hemigrammus mahnerti (Mahnert's Tetra) is a rarely seen tetra from the Peruvian Amazon, distinguished by a bold caudal spot and attractive reddish hue along the lower flanks. It makes an excellent addition to a peaceful community aquarium alongside other small Amazonian species. Soft, warm water and a well-planted environment bring out its best colouration.

Care Guide

Keep in groups of at least 8 in a planted aquarium of 60 L or more. Maintain soft, slightly acidic water. Feed micro-pellets, fine flake, and occasional frozen baby brine shrimp. Peaceful and ideal for Amazonian community tanks. Tannin-stained water enhances colouration.
