Origin: Madagascar
Bedotia geayi is native to rivers and streams along the eastern coast of Madagascar, where it inhabits clear, well-oxygenated water. It is one of the most commonly kept Madagascan rainbowfish in the hobby, valued for its graceful build and attractive red-tipped tail. A moderately hardy species that does best in clean, well-maintained water.
Water: 18–24°C, pH 6.5–8.0, soft to moderately hard water. Tank: 100 L+, open swimming space, planted margins; water quality is important. Feeding: Omnivore; flakes, pellets, and regular frozen/live foods. Behaviour: Active, peaceful schooling fish; prefers slightly cooler temperatures. Compatibility: Good with other peaceful mid-sized community fish.
