About
Synchiropus splendidus — the mandarin fish — is arguably the most colourful fish in the ocean. Its elaborate blue, orange, and green maze pattern is extraordinary. However, it is strictly specialized, feeding almost exclusively on benthic copepods and amphipods. Standard aquarium foods are usually refused. A refugium with copepod production or dedicated copepod supplementation is essential. Only recommended for advanced reefers with mature, copepod-rich reef systems (18+ months).
