Saron marmoratus
Origin: Indo-Pacific
The Marble Shrimp (Saron marmoratus) is a fascinating marine species that uses its mottled green, red, and white colouration to blend seamlessly into coral rubble and algae-covered rock. Males are distinguished by elongated, bushy first pair of legs used in territorial and courtship displays. Nocturnal and generally reef-safe but may disturb small ornamental shrimp.
House in a reef or FOWLR aquarium of at least 75 L with abundant live rock for camouflage and shelter. Feed frozen mysis, meaty marine foods, and quality marine pellets. Nocturnal; provide caves and overhangs as daytime retreats. Use caution in tanks with very small ornamental shrimp. Reef-safe with corals.
