Xiphophorus maculatus var.
Also known as: Marigold Platy, Orange Platy
Origin: Captive bred
The Marigold Platy is a vibrant variety with a warm, saturated orange body reminiscent of the marigold flower. The colouration is consistent across the body and carries into the fins, creating a uniform, glowing orange fish that brightens planted or community aquariums.
This variety is bred from established orange platy lines and represents one of the most reliably coloured platy variants available. There is minimal colour variation between individuals, making it easy to create a cohesive group display.
Like all platys, the Marigold is exceptionally easy to care for and breeds prolifically, making it ideal for beginners and aquarium educators alike.

Feeding: Quality flake, colour-enhancing foods, spirulina; 2 meals daily. Breeding: Very prolific; 20–80 fry per brood; colour is consistent and heritable. Compatibility: Ideal for all peaceful community aquariums.
