Procambarus virginalis
Origin: Captive bred — aquarium trade origin
The Marbled Crayfish (Procambarus virginalis) is scientifically unique — it is the only known decapod crustacean that reproduces entirely by parthenogenesis (cloning). Every individual is female and produces identical genetic clones. Fascinating for education and display. NOTE: Do NOT release into the wild — listed as invasive in the EU.
Hardy and adaptable. Provide caves. Feed sinking pellets and vegetables. Compatible only with large, robust fish — will eat plants and small fish/shrimp. STRICTLY do NOT release into natural waterways — listed under EU invasive species regulations. Fascinating educational species.
