Platygyra daedalea
Origin: Indo-Pacific, Red Sea, Australia
Platygyra daedalea (Maze Brain Coral) forms smooth, rounded to flattened colonies with intricate meandering ridges and valleys reminiscent of a labyrinth. Colouration varies from pale tan and cream to vivid green and teal, often with contrasting valley floors. A moderately challenging coral that rewards stable reef chemistry with steady growth.
Position on the substrate or low rock with moderate flow and medium lighting. Maintain stable alkalinity (8–9 dKH), calcium (400–450 ppm), and magnesium (1300 ppm). Target feed polyps with mysis or copepods 1–2 times weekly. Provide adequate spacing from other corals as sweeper tentacles can extend at night.
