Origin: Irian Jaya, Indonesia (aquacultured)
Melanotaenia boesemani, Boeseman's Rainbowfish, is the iconic two-tone rainbowfish with vibrant orange-red rear and blue-grey front. Possibly the most recognisable rainbowfish species. Males develop intense colour at maturity. Endangered in the wild — all trade specimens aquacultured.
School of 6+. Temperature 22–28°C, pH 7.0–8.5, GH 8–18. 150 L+. Planted with open swimming space. Feed quality flakes, pellets, frozen foods. Keep in same-sex groups to reduce aggression.
