About
Melanotaenia sp. "Baliem" originates from the Baliem Valley, a highland river valley in the central mountains of West Papua, where it inhabits cool, clear, well-oxygenated water. Its vivid colouration and highland adaptation set it apart from lowland relatives. Requires cooler temperatures than most melanotaeniids and excellent water quality to thrive.

Feeding: Omnivore; varied diet of flakes, pellets, and frozen/live foods. Behaviour: Active, peaceful schooling fish; cooler temperatures are important. Compatibility: Best with other highland rainbowfish; avoid warm-water-only species.
