Boraras merah
Origin: South and Central Borneo
Boraras merah (Orange Rasbora) is a vibrant nano fish from the blackwater peat swamps of southern Borneo, living among leaf litter in highly acidic tannin-stained waters. Its deep orange-red body with a distinctive black blotch at mid-body and another at the caudal peduncle makes it one of the most colourful members of its genus. Thrives in groups of ten or more in a soft, acidic nano setup.
Keep in groups of 10+ in a heavily planted nano aquarium of at least 20 L with very soft, acidic water (pH 4.0–6.5). Use RO water or peat filtration and tannin-stained water. Feed micro-pellets, baby brine shrimp, and daphnia. Only house with similarly-sized peaceful fish or other nano species. Avoid any hard or alkaline water.
