Chaetodon meyeri
Origin: Indo-Pacific
Meyer's Butterflyfish (Chaetodon meyeri) has a white body boldly marked with curved and diagonal black lines and bright yellow accents on the fins and tail. An obligate corallivore in the wild, it is one of the most difficult butterflies to maintain in captivity long-term. Reserved for expert aquarists willing to provide live or specialty coral-based diets.
Requires a very large, stable system of at least 220 L. Must be offered live coral fragments or specialist coral-substitute foods. Rarely accepts frozen foods reliably. Long-term success requires consistent access to appropriate corallivore diet. Expert-only species with high failure rate in standard captive feeding regimes.
