Boraras micros
Origin: Thailand
Boraras micros is one of the smallest vertebrates in the world, barely reaching 1.5 cm in length, from blackwater streams and rice paddies in Thailand. Its tiny red body with a bold black midlateral stripe makes it visually striking in large schools that create a stunning display in nano aquaria. Requires very specific soft and acidic water conditions and must only be housed with appropriately sized tankmates.
Keep in groups of 15 or more in a nano aquarium of at least 15 L with very soft, acidic blackwater conditions (pH 4.0–6.5). Use RO water with tannins or peat filtration. Feed only appropriately tiny foods: infusoria, banana worms, micro-pellets. Only house with similarly-sized nano fish or shrimp. Do not mix with larger fish.
