Microctenopoma damasi is a small African anabantoid with a pleasing spotted body pattern, native to river systems of Central Africa. It is rarely encountered in the aquarium trade and is primarily kept by specialist hobbyists. Like other Microctenopoma, it requires a planted tank, prefers live foods, and should not be kept with very small fish.
Water: temp 23–28°C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderately hard. Tank: minimum 60L; well-planted with driftwood and leaf litter. Feeding: carnivore — live and frozen micro-invertebrates; may accept small pellets. Behaviour: generally peaceful; predatory towards very small fish and invertebrates. Compatibility: suitable for medium planted community; avoid nano fish and shrimp.
