Microdevario gatesi
Also known as: Gates' Microdevario, Hill Stream Micro Rasbora
Origin: Myanmar
Microdevario gatesi inhabits clear, well-oxygenated hill streams in Myanmar at cooler temperatures than most tropical nano fish. It has a semi-transparent body with a faint yellow tone and a delicate mid-lateral stripe. Its preference for cool, clean water makes it a unique option for aquarists running unheated or lightly heated tanks.
Water: 18–24 °C, pH 6.5–7.5, soft to moderate (GH 4–12); well-oxygenated water important. Tank: 20 L minimum; moderate flow, fine plants, open swimming space. Feeding: Micro pellets, baby brine shrimp, Cyclops; accepts fine crushed flake. Behaviour: Active schooler; keep 8+ for best group behaviour. Compatibility: Other cool-water nano fish; nano shrimp; avoid warm-water species.
