Micromussa lordhowensis
Origin: Indo-Pacific, Lord Howe Island
Micromussa lordhowensis (formerly classified as Acanthastrea lordhowensis) produces smaller corallites than the classic Acan Lord, with vivid red and green combinations that create dense, jewel-like colonies. It is slightly more tolerant of lower light than many LPS corals and develops complex multi-colour patterns that make each colony unique. A highly collectable and increasingly popular LPS among Belgian and Dutch reef keepers.
Low to medium PAR (50–150). Moderate indirect flow. Alk 8–10 dKH, Ca 400–450 ppm, temp 24–27°C. Weekly target feeding with small meaty foods significantly accelerates growth. Extends short sweeper tentacles — maintain 5 cm clearance. Hardy once established. Frag by carefully sawing between polyp groups with appropriate coral saw.
