Ecsenius midas
Origin: Indo-Pacific
The Midas Blenny (Ecsenius midas) is a master of mimicry, closely resembling the Lyretail Anthias in both colouration and undulating swimming style, allowing it to join their schools for protection. Its rich golden-yellow body with blue facial markings and anthias-mimicking behaviour makes it a fascinating and beautiful reef inhabitant.
House in a reef or FOWLR aquarium of at least 120 L with live rock for perching. Feed quality flake, frozen mysis, and algae-based foods. Can be territorial toward other blennies — keep only one per tank. Best appreciated in a larger reef alongside Lyretail Anthias whose schools it joins. Reef-safe with corals.
