About
The Midnight Peacock is a selectively bred strain of Aulonocara developed to emphasise dark body pigmentation, resulting in males with a deep navy-to-black base colour and vivid blue sheen along the flanks and fins. It is kept and cared for identically to other peacock cichlids in hard, alkaline conditions.
Care Guide
Water: 24-27°C, pH 7.5-9.0, hard alkaline water; ensure good oxygenation. Tank: Minimum 200L; sandy substrate with rockwork for territory marking. Feeding: Balanced cichlid diet; quality pellets with occasional protein supplement. Behaviour: Males territorial; best kept as one male with several females to distribute aggression. Compatibility: Peacock and hap-only community; separate from mbuna.
