About

The Bolivian Ram (Mikrogeophagus altispinosus) is a popular and adaptable dwarf cichlid from the upper Madeira River in Bolivia and Brazil, featuring a robust body with red-tipped fins, a vivid yellow-to-red gradient belly, and a characteristic black lateral spot. Notably hardier and more tolerant than the German Ram, it is a superb choice for community planted tanks.

Care Guide

House a pair or small group in a planted aquarium of at least 80 L with fine sand substrate. Tolerates a wider range of water parameters than the German Ram. Feed quality micro-pellets, frozen cyclops, bloodworm, and artemia. Peaceful with other community fish. Provide caves or flat rocks for potential spawning.
