Chelonodon patoca

Origin: Indo-Pacific (mangroves and estuaries)
Chelonodon patoca is one of the most broadly distributed Tetraodontidae, occurring throughout the Indo-Pacific from the Red Sea and East Africa to Hawaii and the Pacific Islands. It inhabits mangrove channels, tidal creeks, and shallow coastal reefs. Growing to 30 cm, it requires large aquaria with brackish to marine conditions and a robust shellfish-based diet.
Water: 24–28°C, pH 7.5–8.5, SG 1.010–1.025; full brackish to marine preferred for adults. Tank: Minimum 300 L; open substrate, coral sand, and mangrove roots or robust marine decor. Feeding: Clams, mussels, cockles, crabs, and frozen shellfish; heavy feeders requiring frequent large meals. Behaviour: Aggressive and territorial; will attack other species relentlessly. Compatibility: Species-only; solo housing in dedicated brackish or marine aquarium.
