Poecilia reticulata
Origin: Captive bred
The Moscow Purple Guppy is among the rarest and most sought-after Moscow color variants, displaying a full-body violet-purple iridescence that is seldom seen in the hobby. Males carry a broad, flowing delta tail shimmering with the same royal purple hues. Best showcased in groups of males against a dark substrate and dark background to maximize the intensity of their unique coloration.
Maintain clean, slightly hard, neutral-to-alkaline water. Feed color-enhancing flake foods and frozen artemia to maintain iridescence. House males with females at 1:2 to reduce harassment. Avoid fin-nipping tank mates. Dark substrate enhances their purple coloration.
