Puntigrus tetrazona var. (moss green)
Also known as: Moss Green Tiger Barb
Origin: Southeast Asia (captive-bred)
The Moss Green Tiger Barb is a selectively bred variant in which both the green iridescence is intensified and the black banding is suppressed, producing a fish with an unusual mossy-khaki to deep olive colouration. It is less commonly available than other Tiger Barb morphs, making it a sought-after variant. Behaviour and husbandry are identical to the standard Tiger Barb.
Water: 22–26°C, pH 6.0–7.5, moderate hardness (GH 5–15). Tank: 80 L minimum; planted with moderate current and good oxygenation. Feeding: Omnivore; flake, pellets, and regular frozen or live food treats. Behaviour: Semi-aggressive schooler; large groups of 8–12 are essential for stable behaviour. Compatibility: Pairs well with other barb morphs; avoid timid or long-finned fish.
