Caridina cf. cantonensis
Also known as: Mosura Crystal Red Shrimp, Hinomaru CRS
Origin: Captive bred (Japan lineage)
The Mosura pattern is one of the most sought-after in the Crystal Red Shrimp hobby, defined by a full solid white head cap (known as the hinomaru or 'sun' pattern) combined with a distinct red saddle across the midsection. True Mosura specimens are significantly rarer and more expensive than standard Crystal Reds due to the difficulty of stabilising this specific pattern through selective breeding. They require the same demanding soft acidic conditions as all high-grade Crystal Red lines.
Water: 20–24°C, pH 5.8–6.8, TDS 100–150, GH 4–6, KH 0–2; active substrate required. Tank: minimum 20 L, buffering substrate, heavy moss coverage for hiding and biofilm. Feeding: powdered shrimp food, biofilm, spirulina; feed small amounts daily. Behaviour: peaceful; spending most time grazing on moss and substrate. Compatibility: shrimp-only or with peaceful snails; absolutely no fish.
