About

The Multi Delta Guppy is bred for maximum colour diversity within a single fish, typically showing two to four distinct hues across the body and the broad delta tail. Common combinations include red-blue-black and orange-green-black, though individual fish vary due to the polygenic nature of multi-colour expression.

This strain is popular in community displays because its unpredictability means every fish looks slightly different. Colour expression develops fully in males by four to five months of age.

Maintain in hard, alkaline water and feed a colour-enhancing diet to ensure each colour zone reaches its maximum saturation. A varied diet also supports immune function in this well-rounded but selectively bred strain.

Care Guide

Water: 22–28 °C, pH 7.0–8.0, GH 8–20; stable parameters prevent colour fade. Tank: 60 L minimum; moderate planting; good lighting to display multi-colour tail. Feeding: Colour-enhancing flake, frozen Daphnia, spirulina wafers; varied diet essential. Breeding: Livebearer; multi-colour is polygenic; offspring vary; select best males for breeding. Compatibility: Peaceful community fish; ideal with tetras, rasboras, and corydoras.
