Pomacea bridgesii
Origin: South America (captive bred)
The Black Mystery Snail is a jet-black color morph of the popular Pomacea bridgesii, displaying a sleek, uniform dark shell and body that creates a dramatic contrast in brightly lit or light-colored aquascapes. Like all Mystery Snails, it is completely plant-safe, peaceful, and actively grazes on soft algae, detritus, and uneaten food. An excellent cleanup crew member that doubles as a visually distinctive aquarium inhabitant.
Ensure adequate calcium in the water (GH 8+) for healthy shell growth; supplement with cuttlebone if needed. Provide a tight-fitting lid as Mystery Snails will escape given the opportunity. Feed supplementary blanched vegetables, algae wafers, and calcium-rich foods. Avoid copper-based medications.
