Pomacea bridgesii
Origin: South America (captive-bred)
Pomacea bridgesii Ivory, the Ivory Mystery Snail, is a large, attractive apple snail with a pristine white shell and a vivid orange-yellow body. One of the most popular freshwater snails for planted community tanks — peaceful, large enough to be a display animal, and an effective algae and detritus grazer. Unlike the invasive Pomacea canaliculata it will not eat healthy plant tissue, making it safe for planted aquariums. Breathes with a lung siphon visible at the surface.
Needs airspace above water for lung breathing. Temperature 20–28 °C, GH 8+ for shell health, pH 7.0–8.0. Feed algae wafers, blanched greens, and sinking pellets. Avoid copper medications — lethal to all snails. Secure lid required.
