Nannacara anomala
Origin: Guyana (captive-bred strain)
The Gold Form of Nannacara anomala is a captive-bred strain of the Golden Dwarf Cichlid from Guyana, with an intensified yellow-gold body and blue-green iridescent scale wash that is more vivid than the wild type. One of the most beginner-friendly dwarf cichlids available, it tolerates a broader range of water conditions than most Apistogramma species. Females undergo dramatic color transformation during spawning and are fierce, attentive parents.
Provide a well-planted aquarium with ample hiding places and caves for breeding. Feed a varied diet of high-quality flake, micro-pellets, and frozen live foods such as daphnia and bloodworm. Water quality is important for conditioning; perform weekly partial water changes. Females become highly territorial when guarding fry.
