Naso Tang (Naso lituratus)

The Naso Tang, also known as the Lipstick Tang or Orangespine Unicornfish, is one of the most majestic tangs in the marine hobby, recognized by its bold orange lips, orange caudal keels, and—in mature males—elegant, trailing tail streamers. A powerful, energetic swimmer that requires exceptional tank volume and water flow. Naso tangs are known for developing a strong bond with their keeper, often hand-taming readily. They thrive on a varied algae-based diet including nori, macroalgae, and spirulina.

House in a very large aquarium (500 L minimum) with powerful, multi-directional flow and open swimming space. Provide abundant nori, dried macroalgae, and spirulina-enriched frozen foods daily. Introduce early in tank stocking; generally peaceful but may become territorial with other tangs as it matures.
