Betta splendens
Also known as: Nemo Betta, Clownfish Betta, Fancy Betta
Origin: Southeast Asia
Nemo bettas are produced through complex selective breeding combining koi, marble, and multicolour genetics to achieve the distinctive clownfish-like colouration of orange, black, and white. The pattern is highly variable between individuals, and like all marble-based fish, may shift subtly over the fish's life.
Water: 26-30°C, pH 6.0-7.5, soft to medium hardness — high water quality maintains colour saturation. Tank: minimum 20L, planted; bright lighting showcases the orange and white colouration beautifully. Feeding: high-quality betta pellets, frozen bloodworm, brine shrimp; two feedings daily. Behaviour: males aggressive to own species — one per tank. Compatibility: peaceful community tanks; a truly eye-catching centrepiece fish.
