Neocaridina davidi
Origin: Captive-bred (Taiwan/Europe)
The Black Rose shrimp is a deeply pigmented Neocaridina davidi morph developed from the Carbon Rili line through sustained selective breeding for uniform full-body dark coloration. Top-grade specimens appear jet black or very deep charcoal with minimal transparency, creating a striking visual contrast in planted and light-substrate aquariums. Despite their dramatic coloration, they are as undemanding, adaptable, and prolific as standard Red Cherry Shrimp.
Maintain stable, clean water with weekly partial water changes. Avoid sudden parameter shifts and copper-based medications. Feed dedicated shrimp foods, blanched vegetables, and biofilm. Keep with peaceful, shrimp-safe fish only. Higher grades are best kept in a species-only or invertebrate-only tank.
