Neocaridina davidi
Origin: Captive-bred (Taiwan)
The Extreme Red Cherry, also known as Painted Fire Red, represents the pinnacle of selective red Neocaridina davidi breeding—featuring fully opaque, deeply saturated red coloration covering every part of the body including legs, antennae, and tail. High-grade females appear as near-solid crimson gemstones moving through the aquarium, with no visible transparency through the shell. Despite this extreme coloration, they retain the same beginner-friendly hardiness and prolific breeding of standard Red Cherry Shrimp.
Provide a well-cycled planted aquarium with stable parameters. Feed high-quality shrimp food, blanched vegetables, and biofilm. Avoid copper medications. Separate from lower-grade Neocaridina to maintain top-grade color through selective breeding. Weekly partial water changes support breeding activity.
