Neolamprologus brevis
Origin: Lake Tanganyika
Neolamprologus brevis is a slightly larger shell-dwelling cichlid with golden to yellow-ochre colouration and iridescent blue spotting. Males defend a territory of several shells while females inhabit individual shells. It is calmer than the multi, with less intense colony aggression. In a well-set-up Tanganyika biotope it will display its fascinating shell-defence and courtship behaviour readily.
pH 8.0–8.5. Sand + larger shells (escargot). Pairs or trio (1M + 2F). Peaceful toward unrelated Tanganyika species sharing different zones.
