Trichogaster lalius
Also known as: Neon Blue Dwarf Gourami, Neon Dwarf Gourami
Origin: India (captive-bred variant)
The Neon Blue Dwarf Gourami is a selectively bred variant of Trichogaster lalius, intensifying the naturally occurring blue iridescence into a vivid neon sheen. Care is identical to standard Dwarf Gouramis but buyers should source disease-tested specimens, as the species is susceptible to Dwarf Gourami Iridovirus (DGIV). A stunning focal fish for planted community tanks.
Water: 25–28°C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderately hard. Tank: 60L minimum, floating plants, dense stem planting, tight lid. Feeding: Omnivore — quality micro-pellets, flake, frozen daphnia and bloodworm. Behaviour: Males may spar; keep one male per tank unless very large. Compatibility: Excellent community fish with peaceful mid- and bottom-dwellers.
