Pomacentrus coelestis
Origin: Indo-Pacific, Cocos-Keeling to Samoa
Pomacentrus coelestis, the Neon or Celestial Demoiselle, is one of the most vividly colored damselfishes available for marine aquariums, displaying an electric blue upper body that fades to a luminous yellow on the lower flanks and belly. Distributed from Cocos-Keeling to Samoa across the Indo-Pacific, it is significantly more peaceful than many Pomacentrus relatives and makes a lively, attractive addition to reef systems. Best introduced to a well-established aquarium with sufficient hiding spaces.
Provide a reef aquarium with abundant live rock for territory definition and hiding. Feed a varied diet of quality marine flake, frozen mysis, and enriched brine shrimp. Introduce singly or as a small group simultaneously to minimize inter-species aggression. Avoid adding to tanks with passive or timid fish.
