Pseudochromis fridmani
Origin: Red Sea (captive-bred)
Pseudochromis fridmani, the Orchid or Neon Dottyback, is a captivating captive-bred reef fish from the Red Sea. Its entire body is a solid electric orchid-purple — a vivid colour rare in nature. It actively hunts flatworms (including Acropora-eating flatworms), mantis shrimp, and small pest crustaceans from the rockwork. Captive-bred specimens are less aggressive than wild-caught fish. Suitable for reef tanks; does not harm corals. An excellent pest-control fish.
Reef safe with corals. Provide caves and crevices for security — they are shy initially. Feed frozen mysis, brine shrimp. One dottyback per tank unless very large reef system. Captive-bred is significantly calmer than wild. Standard reef parameters.
