Clithon corona
Origin: Southeast Asia
The Horned Nerite Snail (Clithon corona) is distinguished by the dramatic protruding spines or horns on its shell, ranging from short rounded nubs to long pointed projections depending on the individual—making each snail a unique, sculptural specimen. At only 1.5 cm, it is the smallest commonly available nerite and perfectly suited for nano aquariums and small planted tanks. Highly effective at grazing green spot algae, diatoms, and biofilm, it will not reproduce in freshwater.
Maintain alkaline, calcium-rich water (GH 6+) for healthy shell development. Provide algae-covered glass and hardscape for natural grazing. Supplement with algae wafers if algae growth is insufficient. Secure lid to prevent escape. Avoid copper medications.
