Corydoras nijsseni
Also known as: Nijssen's Cory, Clown Cory
Origin: South America
Corydoras nijsseni is one of the most recognisable cories, with a striking rosy-pink body covered in bold blue-black spots and a characteristic black dorsal saddle. It originates from the Rio Pastaza drainage in Peru. Its beautiful colouration and rarity in the wild make it popular among collectors, though it is now mostly captive-bred.
Water: 22–26°C, pH 6.0–7.0, soft to medium hardness; clean, well-oxygenated water. Tank: 60L+, fine sand substrate, moderate flow, plants and driftwood for cover. Feeding: Sinking wafers, small pellets, frozen bloodworm, brine shrimp, and cyclops. Behaviour: Peaceful schooling bottom dweller; keep in groups of 6+. Compatibility: Excellent with small to medium peaceful South American fish.
