Origin: Tanzania
Nothobranchius flammicomantis (from Latin: 'with a flame-coloured mantle') is a recently described annual killifish from Tanzania with some of the most intense red-orange colouration in the genus. Males are breathtaking in full colour and will spar enthusiastically with rivals. Standard Nothobranchius husbandry applies.
Water: 20–25°C, pH 6.5–7.5, moderately hard. Tank: 40L minimum, peat substrate 5cm deep, sparse planting. Feeding: Carnivore — live/frozen cyclops, daphnia, bloodworm. Behaviour: Males aggressive; keep singly or one male with multiple females. Compatibility: Species tank recommended.
