Aulonocara sp.
Origin: Lake Malawi (hybrid, captive-bred)
The OB Peacock is a hybrid Aulonocara peacock cichlid displaying the distinctive orange blotch (OB) color pattern—irregular patches of orange, blue, and black that create a uniquely mottled, eye-catching appearance. OB morphs are predominantly female in the wild but have been selectively bred in captivity to produce male OB individuals with full peacock finnage. An excellent choice for a colorful Malawi peacock-hap display aquarium.
Maintain hard, alkaline water replicating Lake Malawi conditions. Feed a varied carnivore diet of quality cichlid pellets, frozen mysis, and krill. Avoid overfeeding with protein-heavy foods to prevent Malawi bloat. Keep with other Malawi peacock and hap species; avoid housing with aggressive mbuna.
