Cypho purpurascens
Origin: Western Pacific
The Oblique-lined Dottyback is a visually distinctive marine species featuring an unusual pattern of diagonal orange-red stripes on a pale body—quite different from the typical solid or longitudinally striped dottyback appearance. Unlike many dottybacks that hide secretively in rock crevices, it is more open-water oriented and can be observed patrolling rocky reef areas. An unusual and attractive species for the dedicated marine hobbyist seeking something beyond the commonplace.
Provide a reef aquarium with rocky structures and some caves. Feed a varied diet of frozen mysis, enriched brine shrimp, and small meaty foods. May display aggression toward smaller or similar-looking species. Introduce to a well-established tank.
