Amphiprion ocellaris
Origin: Indo-Pacific
Amphiprion ocellaris — the ocellaris or false percula clownfish — is the most popular marine fish in the hobby. Immortalised as 'Nemo', this friendly, orange-and-white-barred fish is a joy to keep. It is the hardiest of the commonly kept clownfish, tolerating a wider range of parameters than many marine species. Tank-raised specimens are available in abundance. They thrive with or without a host anemone, hosting instead in torch corals, bubble-tip anemones, or even large LPS. A must-have for any first reef or FOWLR setup.
Light: any. Flow: moderate. Feed: flakes, pellets, frozen mysis and brine shrimp. Keep in pairs. Host anemone not required. Reef-safe. Beginner-friendly.
