Neritina reclivata
Also known as: Olive Nerite Snail, Olive Nerite
Origin: North America
Neritina reclivata is a native North American nerite species found in coastal rivers and estuaries. Its smooth, olive-green shell provides a quiet, naturalistic look in planted aquariums. It is one of the most effective algae grazers available, particularly for diatoms and green spot algae, and will not reproduce in freshwater.
Water: 20–28°C, pH 7.0–8.5; calcium-rich water helps maintain its smooth shell surface. Tank: Minimum 20L with hard grazing surfaces; suitable for planted biotope setups. Feeding: Feeds primarily on algae growing on glass, rocks, and driftwood; supplement with algae wafers if needed. Behaviour: Diurnal grazer; may climb above the waterline — a lid is advisable. Compatibility: Perfectly safe with community fish, shrimp, and other invertebrates.
