The Opaline Gourami, also called the Marble Gourami, is a captivating selectively bred colour morph of Trichogaster trichopterus featuring a marbled blue-and-silver body pattern. It is extremely hardy and tolerates a wide range of water conditions, making it popular among beginners and experienced hobbyists alike. Males can be territorial, particularly toward other male gouramis.
Water: temp 22–28°C, pH 6.0–8.0, broad hardness tolerance. Tank: minimum 80L with plants for cover; secure lid required. Feeding: omnivore — will eat flakes, pellets, live brine shrimp, bloodworm, and frozen foods. Behaviour: males can be territorial; keep one male with females or other peaceful species. Compatibility: good community fish; avoid pairing with fin-nippers.
