Danio kyathit
Also known as: Orange-finned Danio, Kyathit Danio
Origin: Myanmar
Danio kyathit is a moderately sized danio from Myanmar known for two distinct natural morphs — one with orange fins and rows of spots, another with stripes. Both are active, hardy schoolers that adapt well to a range of aquarium conditions. Its bright orange fins add a splash of warm colour that complements the cool blues of planted tanks. It is easy to keep and breed, making it a good choice for hobbyists wanting an unusual danio.
Water: 20–26 °C, pH 6.5–7.5, soft to moderately hard (GH 4–15). Tank: 60 L minimum; planted with open midwater and some current. Feeding: Omnivore — flakes, micro pellets, live or frozen Daphnia and brine shrimp. Behaviour: Peaceful active schooler; keep 8+ for best group display. Compatibility: Ideal with rasboras, barbs, and bottom dwellers of similar size.
