Neocaridina davidi var. 'Orange Rili'
Also known as: Orange Rili Shrimp, Orange Bee Rili
Origin: Selectively bred; base species from Taiwan and China
The Orange Rili Shrimp is a selectively bred Neocaridina davidi morph featuring vivid orange coloration at the head and tail with a transparent, unpigmented midsection creating a distinctive banded appearance. Bred from the same hardworking Neocaridina davidi gene pool, Orange Rilis are undemanding and prolific, thriving across a broad range of tap water conditions. Their warm orange tones add a bright, cheerful accent to planted aquariums. Active biofilm and algae grazers, they contribute usefully to tank maintenance. Their hardy nature and ease of breeding make them an excellent choice for intermediate shrimp keepers looking to expand their color collection.
Water: pH 6.5–8.0, TDS 150–400 ppm, temperature 18–28°C; standard tap water acceptable. Tank: 20+ litres; planted with mosses and leaf litter; sponge or HOB filtration. Feeding: Biofilm, algae, blanched vegetables, and Neocaridina shrimp pellets. Breeding: Prolific; rili offspring can vary in pattern intensity; select for clearest banding. Compatibility: Peaceful; community-compatible with small non-predatory fish.
