About

The Orchid Dottyback displays a solid, vivid purple-magenta coloration throughout its entire body—one of the most beautiful small reef fish available. Native to the Red Sea, captive-bred specimens are widely available, more docile, and more reliably reef-safe than wild-caught individuals. They defend territory in crevices but generally coexist well with dissimilar marine species.

Care Guide

Provide rock caves for hiding and territory. Feed frozen mysis, enriched brine shrimp, and meaty foods. House one per tank in smaller aquariums. Captive-bred specimens are strongly preferred for their improved temperament and hardiness.
