Pseudochromis fridmani
Origin: Red Sea
Pseudochromis fridmani — the orchid dottyback — is one of the most strikingly coloured small reef fish. Its uniform, brilliant purple body stands out against any aquascape. Tank-raised specimens are now widely available, are much hardier than wild imports, and are reef-safe. Orchid dottybacks are moderately aggressive and will control bristle worm populations. Best kept as single specimens or well-matched mated pairs in larger tanks.
Light: any. Flow: moderate. Feed: mysis, frozen brine, small meaty foods. Reef-safe. Aggressive toward other dottybacks. Single specimen per tank or mated pair only.
