Paracirrhites forsteri
Origin: Indo-Pacific
Paracirrhites forsteri, the Freckled or Ornate Hawkfish, is a robust hawkfish with a bold pattern of red-brown spots and blotches on a white body that grows more vivid with age. Like all hawkfish it perches on high coral heads and rocky outcrops surveying the reef — launching itself at passing small fish and crustaceans. Reef safe with corals but predatory toward small shrimp and fish. Highly personable and bold; quickly becomes a focal personality of the aquarium.
Will eat ornamental shrimp and small fish. Reef safe with corals. Feed meaty frozen foods: mysis, brine shrimp, small fish pieces. Does not need a swim bladder (rests on surfaces). One hawkfish per tank. Standard reef parameters.
